Area and perimeter fun!

Class 5 have been learning about area and perimeter this week in a fun project making a wintery scene for a maths display. First, children learned what area and perimeter are, how they are useful measurements in real life and how to calculate these measurements. They then designed their own houses using centimeter squared paper. Their designs had to be be very accurate! This was great practise at using rulers and drawing straight lines. Next, the children had to measure and calculate the perimeter and area of their houses. Finally, it was time to turn their finished designs into colourful houses using the same level of accuracy as before. As you can see the children have been working very hard and have been using resilience, resourcefulness and reciprocity in order to complete the project. We will add pictures of the finished display when it's up on the wall!
